Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the party enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.
Fans can look forward to discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
